Seabata Mahao
A chief of Menoaneng village in the Thaba-Tseka district was arrested for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman from the same village on April 17,2021. Reports indicate that the chief entered the room in which the victim was then started hugging, and inappropriately touching her until he put his hand inside her leggings demanding sex without her consent. The woman is said to have later reported the incident to the police after which the chief was arrested. The chief will appear before court as soon as investigations are complete.
Sub-Inspector ‘Mareabetsoe Mofoka from the office of the police spokesperson said that, in Maseru at the Police Headquarters, a Mosotho man aged 38 years from Teyateyaneng Ha-Ramokhuthu was found with a car reportedly stolen from South Africa. Reports indicate that on April 20,2021, the Teyateyaneng Police tracked the car to the man’s workplace and upon enquiry about its ownership he was unable to produce proof of ownership resulting in his arrest. The car is said to have been hijacked from its owner in Fourisburg South Africa on February 2021 and the police investigations are still continuing.
In other news, a Mohale’s Hoek man aged 35 years from Ha-Mokhele Tsolane in Taung is accused of murdering his niece aged 15 years. Police reports indicate that on April 19, 2021 at around 20 00hrs he hit his niece accusing her of going out late with boys then locked her in the room, until at around 0400hrs the following day her screams for help were heard by local herdboys who found the door locked when they tried to help. By the time they found her uncle to have him open the door, they found the victim, who is also said to have been pregnant, already dead with bruises all over her body. The suspect will appear in court as soon as police investigations have been completed.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man from Maluba-lube Thoteng in Mokhotlong, is in police custody after murdering a 17 years old girl from Libibing. The reports states that on April 25th 2021 at around 20:30hours in the evening the suspect found the victim talking to another man aged 24 years old then he stabbed the victim with a knife and left to his home then the man who was with the victim called for help but the victim was already dead. The suspect is said to have stabbed himself upon hearing that the victim had died but was rushed to hospital and will appear in court as soon as he is discharged from hospital.
