Ntsoaki Motaung
45-year-old Sebusiso Pokoane of Ha TÅ¡iu Quthing appeared before the Magistrate Court of Quthing on January 12 for raping and assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
Police reports indicate that on January 02, at around 0400 the victim who was walking from a bar met Pokoane who pulled her into the nearby fields and raped while also assaulting her. He is awaiting trial in custody.
Women arrested for murder
A woman,22, of Tiping Tlokoeng in the Mokhotlong district, was arrested by police on January 13 for the murder of a 40-year-old woman of the same village.
According to Sub Inspector ‘Mareabetsoe Mofoka from the Public Relations Office of the LMPS, the accused met the deceased whom she accused of bewitching her husband to be struck and killed by lightning on last December. She is said to have then proceeded to stab the deceased several times a knife.
The accused will appear in court once the investigations againsyt her have been completed.
LMPS member accused of Robbery
Mpho Zecka of Ha Mabote in the Berea district appeared before the Maseru Magistrate’s court on January 14 accused with robbery.
The accused is a member of the LMPS who is still on suspension from work.
Reports indicate that he was part of a mob which once staged a false road block at Ha Foso where one businessman was robbed M15, 750.00.
He is awaiting trial in custody and will next appear in court on January 28.
Khaiso Mapanyo, 49, of Mohale’s Hoek appeared before the Magistrate’s Court of Maseru on January 14accused of a robbery that happened last December, where the manager of Meraka Meat Market, his (Mapanya’s) workplace, was robbed M185,175.00. The accused remains in custody and will appear in court on January 28.
