Business magnate Tšeliso Nthane, through his TJ Nthane Foundation, has generously donated leisure wear valued at close to M50,000 to the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) in a significant show of support for the senior men’s national team, Likuena.
This gesture comes in response to recent appeals from LeFA and the Ministry of Sports for assistance to bolster the national team’s efforts. It marks the second substantial contribution from local corporations aimed at fulfilling LeFA’s mandates and ensuring the team’s needs are met.
The donation includes 40 navy blue sweaters and 160 t-shirts in four distinct colors: blue, white, grey, and green. Each item proudly displays the LeFA logo on the left side, alongside the TJ Nthane Foundation logo on the right.
Additionally, they feature graphical images of Moshoeshoe I and the Lesotho flag, symbolizing national pride and unity.
Teboho Shelile, Chairman of the TJ Nthane Foundation, expressed the foundation’s commitment to motivating players as they prepare for the upcoming Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) tournament.
“LeFA approached us to support Likuena with their leisure wear, and we were glad to oblige,” stated Shelile. “This donation comes at a pivotal time as Lesotho commemorates its 200th bicentennial year, boosting our national pride on the international stage,” Shelile said.
“Last year, Likuena came close to victory, and this year, we are rooting for them to bring home the win. We stand by them in prayer and support. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we are standing with Likuena, especially now, because our motto emphasizes that strong families build strong nations. A victorious Likuena strengthens Lesotho,” he added.
Shelile affirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting LeFA as long as they fulfill their obligations. He highlighted TJ Nthane’s longstanding support for LeFA, which includes previous donations such as a motor vehicle and sponsorships for various LeFA activities across different levels.
In his remarks, LeFA President Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC) expressed sincere appreciation to the TJ Nthane Foundation for their swift response and ongoing support.
“TJ Nthane Foundation approved our request in just three days, reaffirming that we are still valued members of their family. We have a longstanding relationship with the TJ Nthane Foundation, and we eagerly anticipate a fruitful future together,” Phafane stated.
“I hope this gesture will inspire other corporations and football-loving Basotho to come forward and support us in any capacity they can. By doing so, they too will earn recognition as supporters of our association,” he added.
He passionately encouraged all Basotho and corporations to join LeFA in rallying behind Likuena as they embark on their upcoming journey.
