Poet, singer, and fashion designer, Felleng Phafoli has authored her first book entitled “Nthethe’s Children Journal”, which is aimed at helping children cope with challenges as they grow up.
The religious book, which is published by Willow Publishers (Pty) Ltd specifically targets kids aged between five and fifteen.
In an interview with Newsday this week, Phafoli explained that her daughter was a big inspiration behind her writing the book through which she wants to help build the self-esteem of other children.
She is deeply concerned about the escalating suicide rates among kids aged between five and fifteen as a result of being bullied because of their physical appearance.
“The question I asked myself when I started writing this book was, ‘What did I need when I was six years old?’ because that is when you are aware of everything. That is when there are people who bully you at school.
“My purpose in writing this diary was to speak to children, to teach them that as much as whoever can say whatever about them, there is God’s word that will never fade, it will never be erased, it will never be uttered, and will never be modified, God loves you with everything you are,” she said.
