Eighteen students sponsored through Econet Telecom Lesotho’s philanthropic arm, Higher Life
Foundation Lesotho have graduated from different local institutions of higher learning in 2023.
Therecipientsofthescholarshipattendeddifferentlocalinstitutions.Twelvegraduatedfrom
the National University of Lesotho(NUL), twof rom the Institute of Extra Mural Studies(IEMS),
two from IBC College,one from Centre of Accounting Studies and the other one studied
midwifery at Roma College of Nursing.
Thescholarshiphasbeenfocusingonorphanedandvulnerablechildrenuntilin2022when
Moshoeshoe1scholarshipfortheacademicallygiftedstudentswasintroduced.
The support is in the form of tuition,livelihood expenses,mentorship,educational tools as
well as psycho-social support.
Econet’s Public Relations and Customer Experience Manager,Puleng Masoabi,said the
company has over the years helped thousands of Basotho students to attain secondary and
tertiary education through Higher Life Foundation Lesotho.“We are proud that with each
passing year,we are able to fulfil the dreams and changing lives of young Basotho through
these scholarships.“The interventions are however, not limited to education,
”Ms Masoabi said.
Higher Life Foundation Lesotho has helped 110 students attain degrees,diplomas and
post graduate qualifications at colleges in Lesotho,South Africa, eSwatini,Zimbabwe and the
United States(US).This year, the foundation has a total of 406 students studying in local
secondary schools,local colleges,Waterford College (eSwatini),Zambia,RSA and US
universities.
