Maseru-The Entrepreneurs Network (TEN) in partnership with the Lesotho Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will host the annual gala dinner in Maseru on Friday on March 18, 2022. Â
The objective of the gala dinner is partly to raise funds but chiefly to thank and recognize the role individuals and corporations played during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As part of the gala festivities, there shall be prizes to be awarded to deserving individuals, companies, and corporations based on a set criterion.
Speaking to the media in Maseru last week, TEN representative, Rethabile Shale said that they hosted an expo at the Maseru Mall in 2021 following the 2020 expo that was cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions. She also said that they partnered with LCCI and Buy Lesotho as they all had the same objectives of growing the individuals, companies, and corporations.
Shale explained that TEN and LCCI always close their expos with an annual gala dinner to close the 2021 exhibition. She added the gala dinner was supposed to be last year after the exhibition however, they had to postpone it and wait for the uplifting of the Covid-19 regulations.
“We are going to launch iMall to sell the products and services of individuals, companies, and corporations online in the international market during the gala dinner. Anyone from around the world will be able to see the products and services as well as the manufacturers or services providers from Lesotho,†Shale said.
On the other hand, Secretary General of LCCI, Fako Hakane explained that, LCCI in partnership with TEN’s gala dinner will be a black tie event at Victory Hall starting at 18:30. He elaborated that the aim is to appreciate individuals, companies, and corporations that have reached out to Basotho during the pandemic.
Hakane mentioned that most of these individuals, companies, and corporations are members of the LCCI hence they find it deserving as well as honoring to appreciate them in the fight against Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021.
He further said that there will be a painting auction of a painting by an icon in the art industry by oil in Lesotho. He pleaded that for table bookings as well as ticket sales, interested people have to confirm their bookings by today.
“iMall was invented back in 2021 at the Dubai expo as a way to make the world know and learn about Lesotho individuals, companies, and corporations in production and service industry globally. The iMall is accessed by clicking onto the LCCI website and browsing through,†said Hakane.
LCCI was established in 1976 by the Societal Act of 1967, it is an organization of individuals, companies, and corporations that is mandated to facilitate in growing the businesses.
Moreover, it has three tiers of membership being associate members known as corporates which include financial institutions, insurance companies and others then the second tier is the affiliates which are sectorial groupings which their constitutions are aligned with the constitution of LCCI like Lesotho Farmer’s Union, Security companies as well as others and the third tier is the district chambers.
On the other hand, TEN is a platform of programs and initiatives aimed at growing an entrepreneurial ecosystem that will become a think tank for creating jobs, accelerating innovation and strengthening good entrepreneurial as well as professional practices. It is also known for the Hook-Up Dinner and the Maseru Mall Expo hosted annually in November.
