Lesotho senior national team, Likuena will tomorrow face Eswatini’s Sihlangu in a practice match for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier matches.
Likuena is preparing to play Zambia in the AFCON qualifiers on March 23 and 26.
Eswatini will also use tomorrow’s practice match to prepare for its own AFCON qualifier matches against Cape Verde on March 24 and 28.
Likuena coach Veselin Jelusic hopes to use the practice match to give young blood such as Mosoeu Seahlolo and Mohlomi Makhetha, etc a taste of international football.
Lesotho Football Association’s (LeFA) spokesperson, Mikia Kalati, said the preparation match will be played at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena.
But he said Likuena would play its official matches in South Africa due to the unavailability of Setsoto Stadium, which has been suspended from hosting international matches by the Confederation African of Football (CAF).
Kalati said the match can be attended free of charge, and will therefore be a good opportunity for supporters to see their national team in live action having last played in the country in 2021.
Likuena played to a one-all draw with Malawi in another preparation match on February 25 in Malawi.
