The reigning Vodacom Premier League (VPL) champions, Lioli FC, have demonstrated their intentions to defend their title by announcing seven new players ahead of the start of the upcoming 2024/24 season.
The Teyateyaneng (TY) based giants have also retained their championship-winning coach, Motheo Mohapi on a two-year term following the expiration of his contract.
Through these moves, club is determined to maintain its momentum, bolstered by the fresh additions to their squad and tying Mohapi down.
Among the new signings, the club welcomes back two familiar faces: midfielder Retšelisitsoe Moepi and Cameroonian striker Swithbert Kum. Both players are returning to Lioli FC after almost two years away.
Kum, who was previously a prolific scorer for the team, rejoins from his home country, while Moepi has been signed from Matlama FC after a loan spell with Limkokwing University FC last season.
Lioli FC has also secured the services of former Swallows FC defender Leluma Phosholi, who joins from Bantu after experiencing limited playing time. The other new recruits include Kamohelo Moroane from Maroala FC, Mphale Mphalaole and Makhabane Ramosele from Kick4Life FC, and Motlalentoa Mongali from Machokha FC.
The club has also confirmed the return of key players including VPL Defender of the Season and club captain Mafa Moremoholo, along with Mokotelo Mohapi and Thejane Thejane.
In recognition of his successful management, head coach Motheo Mohapi has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension following the title-winning 2023/24 season. The technical team has also been strengthened with the addition of goalkeeper coach Pompo Shoai.
Meanwhile, the club has released players including Kabelo TÅ¡epe, Tieho Ntulo, and Sello Sekike, as they adjust their roster for the new season.
