Former First Lady Maesaiah Thabane briefly appeared before the Maseru Magistrate Court today where a blue form was filled paving a way for her arrest.

This follows her lawyer, Rethabile Setlojoane’ s move to surrender her to the police.

She is expected to remain in prison pending her bail petition some time this month.

The police had earlier this year issued a warrant of arrest for renowned famo musician Rethabile Mokete alias Chakela, according to Deputy Commissioner Paseka Mokete.

Chakela, 50, who is head of Mafeteng origin Famo music faction known as Terene is wanted in connection with the murder of Prime Minister Thomas Thabane’s estranged wife Lipolelo who was gunned down on June 2017.

DCP Mokete confirmed to Newsday that indeed they were looking for the musician who is also a staunch activist of the ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC).

We have issued warrant of arrest for the three other men, though they have not been found yet, Mokete said, adding, they were also looking for Seabata Joseph Molefenyane (Lieta),39, from Thupa Likaka, Rothe, and Molefi Samuel (Makata),39, in relation to the case.
