A consortium of eleven event management teams has joined forces to organize a musical event to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Basotho nation.
Scheduled for October 5, 2024, the event’s venue will be disclosed at a later date.
This initiative is a response to a call by the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, urging the Creative Arts and Creative Industries to contribute to the bicentenary celebrations through various expressions, including a major musical event.
The organizers, known as the Basotho Mega Music Festival Joint Venture, announced, “We are thrilled to announce the official music event commemorating the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Basotho Nation State. This landmark celebration will showcase the rich tapestry of Basotho arts and culture through a vibrant musical spectacle.”
“Building upon the Ministry’s vision, the consortium of eleven esteemed event management teams has conceptualized this grand event. The festival will primarily feature local Basotho artists and cultural performers, with the inclusion of one or two internationally renowned acts.
This collaborative effort promises an unforgettable experience, honoring Lesotho’s heritage while igniting a spirit of national pride.
