‘Scorpion Kings’ lead spring festival line-up

The South African duo of Kabza de Small and Dj Maphorisa will lead the line-up of artists billed to perform at this year’s Spring Jump Off festival in Lesotho.

The strong line-up includes Spikiri, Kwesta, DJ Bootz, Emtee, Thizozo, De Mthuda, Afro DJ, Young Stunna, Omali Themba, DJ Vendi, DJ Big Sky, Mike Web Instrument among others.

The festival, which is organized by a local company, Big Events and Hootas Production from South Africa, will feature a number of activities over a four-day period from August 31 to September 2 this year.

The details of the event were disclosed by the organisers on Wednesday this week in Maseru.

The festival will feature a comedy night party scheduled for August 31 at Cuban Linx, a pre-party and a pool party on September 1 at Avani Maseru, with the main event on September 2 at the ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre.

The pool party features another hot lineup with the legendary DJ Christos, DJ Davertz, and DJ Ndo Mbekeni earmarked to rock revelers with their performances.

The pre-party and comedy night party will both be free of charge, while the main event and the pool party will command entrance fees.

According to Kopano Alotsi from Big Events, the early bird ticket price is M100, the pre-sale ticket price is M120, while at the gate the price will be M150. VIP tickets will cost M650.

Alotsi explained that the focus of the festival is to improve Lesotho’s artist talent and expand their network by bringing them together with international artists in an 80/20 ratio.

DJ Mahoota from Hootas Production, said the aim of the festival is not only to focus on amapiano but also other genres.

“We are trying to introduce a new culture by doing things differently.”

He said the event includes daytime activities, as can be seen in the main event and the pool party, which will both start from midday.

The tickets will be sold through Ticketbox.
