Maseru’s music scene is undergoing a thrilling revival, thanks to Think Music’s Intimate Music Experience – a weekly event that has become a beacon for both budding artists and seasoned musicians.

Hosted every Sunday evening at La Minezi, a fresh and stylish new venue in the heart of the city, this initiative provides a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills while celebrating the contributions of veteran artists.

The brainchild of artist and producer Thabiso Doti, along with his partner Letšohla Jr, the event was conceived as a means to elevate and empower musicians in Lesotho, ensuring they gain the exposure and experience necessary to thrive in the steadily growing local music industry.

According to Doti, Think Music’s Intimate Music Experience aims to bridge the gap between new and established artists while fostering a culture of live performance and musical appreciation.

“We saw a need for a space where up-and-coming musicians could share their artistry with a receptive audience,” Doti explained.

“We also wanted to create an environment where industry veterans could perform and mentor the next generation, building a more robust and sustainable music industry in Lesotho.”

Since its inception, the event has gained loyal following, attracting music lovers who appreciate raw, unfiltered talent. The lineup changes weekly, featuring a diverse range of genres, including soulful R&B, Afrosoul, hip-hop, Afrobeats, and Sesotho Hop.

This eclectic mix ensures that every show remains fresh, engaging, and full of surprises. The majority of the performances are done with a live band, in collaboration with Klikk Sounds, adding an authentic and vibrant touch to each session.

Beyond the performances, Think Music’s Intimate Music Experience has fostered a sense of community within the industry. Musicians, producers, and creatives gather at La Minezi not only to perform but also to network, exchange ideas, and form collaborations that extend beyond the Sunday night stage.

The intimate setting allows for genuine connections between artists and their audiences, making it more than just a music event – it is a cultural movement.

For music enthusiasts and industry stakeholders, this initiative represents a crucial step toward professionalising the music sector in Lesotho. By providing consistent opportunities for live performances and skill-building, Think Music’s Intimate Music Experience is helping shape a new era for local talent.

The event recently reached the final lap of its first season, concluding after ten successful sessions. However, it is expected to return after a brief break, with the organisers exploring ways to expand its reach.

Potential partnerships with radio stations, recording studios, and music festivals are being considered to provide artists with even more platforms to showcase their craft.
