The Review Basooka Murathata by El Part El ft O.G Skillz

Chris Theko

On The Review this week we gauge a new number by El Part El alongside O.G S’killz titled Basooka Murathata.

The track, which is a trap hip hop sound with a twist of modern day Kwaito, was officially released on April 20, 2022, and runs for 03 minute 50 seconds, built on 100-Beats-Per-Minute (BPM) and laid on a 100/100-time signature.

The instrumental of the track is influenced by modern day Kwaito, the baselines, low tempo 90s South African house rhythms and percussions from another local subgenre of house known as Bacardi.

Basooka Murathata as a song is not backed by any specific message but gives vibes of old school Kwaito howbeit with no sense of direction.

As far as the lyrical content goes, there is not much to say about it because listening to it you cannot tell what is happening in the song’s lyrics.

Yes, the vibes are nice owing to the production of the song’s instrumentals but everything else fails to come together. Apart from the hook, all the verses are all over the place leaving the listener wondering what the motive and purpose of the song was.

The song is a product of two of the best, El Part EL as a producer and Dj with OG S’Killz one of the best lyricists we have in the country. Maybe, the genre is not what they are used to hence they could not sufficiently adapt to it nor properly articulate it for the listener.

The song is all about the vibes, club vibes and hangout vibes, and basically not very much else. It is rated herein for effort.

Basooka Murathata rates at 2.5 over 10.
