This heartwarming gesture was made during an event held at Mazenod High School to honor the Ministry of Education and Training’s Back-2-School campaign. The event was graced by the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Nthati Moorosi.
At the same event, Econet presented 12 Econet Prime 4G Smartphones to the Minister of Communications which were awarded to 12 outstanding students and teachers from Mapetla High School, Masianokeng High School, Mazenod High School, and Bishop de Mazenod High School respectively in recognition of their excellent performance in the recently published LGCSE examination results.
Speaking at the ceremony, Puleng ‘Mathabo Masoabi, ETL’s Acting GM – Marketing Communications and Customer Experience, highlighted the company’s dedication to education and community development.
“Econet is honored to once again be part of this social impact initiative as a response to a call by the Minister of Education and Training. The school uniforms and shoes which we are donating will provide immediate relief to the needy students, while the smartphones celebrate academic excellence. All this is made possible through the loyalty of our valued customers,” she said.
On his part, the Principal of Mazenod Primary School, Mr. Koenene Koenene, expressed profound gratitude for the donation.
“This gesture by Econet Telecom Lesotho comes at a crucial time when schools have just reopened. It inspires hope among our students and reinforces the importance of education as a pathway to success. We are deeply thankful to Econet for their unwavering support,” said Koenene.
Nthati Moorosi, the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology, and Innovation, commended Econet for its impactful initiative.
“Econet Telecom Lesotho continues to set the benchmark for corporate social responsibility in Lesotho. Their support to children’s education through its social impact organization known as HigherLife Foundation is unparalleled. In addition to that, the company continues to support our annual Back-2-School campaign when we recognize and reward academic excellence to encourage more students and educators to strive for excellence. I encourage other corporates to follow this example,” she stated.
This initiative underscores ETL’s commitment to demonstrating care and compassion for the communities it serves, supporting vulnerable groups by addressing critical needs as well as reinforcing its brand as a telecommunications leader that values its customers.
