Sasai Econet Financial Services (SEFS), a subsidiary of Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL), has launched the EcoCash Agent Campaign, an ambitious initiative aimed at recognising, rewarding, and strengthening the role of EcoCash agents across the country while enhancing financial inclusion.
The campaign was officially launched on Wednesday this week. Speaking at the launch, SEFS General Manager Moeketsi Mafereka emphasised the crucial role EcoCash agents play in extending mobile financial services to underserved communities.
“This is not just another campaign. It is a celebration — a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on our EcoCash agents, who are the heart and soul of our mobile money ecosystem,” said Mafereka.
He described the agents as “silent heroes” and the “backbone of our customer experience.” Through this campaign, SEFS is not only recognising their invaluable service but also reaffirming its commitment to empowering and uplifting this vital network.
Khahliso Sello, Head of Sales and Distribution at SEFS, revealed that the campaign will run from June 4 to September 30, 2025, and is open to all active EcoCash agents and sub-agents across Lesotho.
She explained that the main objective is to drive increased agent activity and improve customer service, with a focus on boosting weekly and monthly cash-in transactions by a minimum of 20%. Agents who meet this target will be eligible to win various prizes throughout the campaign.

“Each week, one agent from each of Lesotho’s 10 districts will win M1,000. At the end of each month, three top-performing agents, one from each of the North, Central, and South regions, will receive M10,000 each. To top it off, a grand prize of M100,000 will be awarded to one outstanding agent at the end of the campaign,” said Sello.
She added that this initiative is SEFS’s way of recognising the vital contribution agents make and encouraging even greater engagement in delivering quality financial services.
Representing other EcoCash agents, ‘Mope Ramabitsa and Masilonyane Khomongoe expressed heartfelt appreciation to SEFS for the campaign and its impact on their lives.
“We are deeply grateful for SEFS’s commitment to improving the lives of agents. EcoCash commissions have transformed not only our lives but also those of the people around us,” said Ramabitsa.
Over the past decade, EcoCash has played a transformative role in expanding access to financial services in Lesotho. From enabling Basotho to send and receive money, pay bills, and purchase goods and services, to serving as a savings channel, EcoCash has become an essential financial tool, and its agents have been central to that success.
