2024 is shaping up to be a productive year for Free State hip hop veteran Kulax Nthoethata.
The seasoned artist has recently collaborated with fellow Sesotho rap pioneer, Msolomba, from the iconic group Baleloko, on a new track titled ‘Pay-Day’.
‘Pay-Day’ addresses the universal dread of payday, capturing the stresses of debit orders, bills, and the chest-pain-inducing payments that the working class faces at the end of each month.
This comical portrayal of payday woes is delivered with a smooth Lo-Fi beat, making it a relatable anthem for many.
“‘Pay-day’ is a comical portrayal of these stresses and the ever eloquent Kulax Nthoethata and the veteran Msolomba drop a very relatable, everyday-people song with a smooth ‘Lo-Fi type beat’,” Khaile, artist manager said in a statement.
Kulax and Msolomba, both esteemed figures in the Sesotho rap scene, bring their years of experience and lyrical prowess to this project. Their chemistry is evident, not only in their individual performances but also in the maturity of their writing, delivery, and production techniques.
This is not their first collaboration; the duo previously worked together on the track ‘Mmamenate’ from Kulax’s 2016 album, ‘Stru Waar 8 LP’.
The anticipation for ‘Pay-Day’ is high, and fans won’t have to wait long.
The single will be available on all digital streaming platforms starting June 25, 2024. This release promises to be a significant addition to the discographies of both artists and a treat for their loyal audiences who have grown with them over the years.
