The senior national team, Likuena, is aiming for back-to-back wins against Namibia in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) as they prepare for their second-leg match on November 2 in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

This follows Likuena’s hard-fought 1-0 victory in the first leg of the tie held last weekend.

Head coach Leslie Notši emphasised the importance of the upcoming clash, acknowledging Namibia’s strength and determination.

“I anticipate that the second leg is a competitive match, and both teams will be eager to advance to the next stage. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, the players must stay focused and respect Namibia, not out of fear, but to acknowledge that they are a strong team,” Notši explained.

Reflecting on the previous encounter, Notši commended his team’s balanced play in both defense and offense.

He expressed a desire to see more goals from Likuena, underscoring that CHAN matches are more intense than domestic league games and provide an opportunity for players to elevate their skills and competitiveness.

Tšepo Toloane, Likuena’s defensive midfielder, echoed the coach’s sentiments, noting that the team has studied Namibia’s style of play. Drawing on their previous COSAFA encounters, he stressed the need for focus and readiness in order to progress to the next stage.

The first-leg victory was a thrilling one for Likuena fans. The turning point came in the 23rd minute when striker Hlompho Kalake scored with a well-placed shot from outside the box, igniting hope for Lesotho’s continued success in the tournament.

Despite Namibia’s relentless attempts to equalise, Likuena’s defense, led by the goalkeeper’s critical saves, preserved the lead, sending fans into jubilation at the final whistle.

With momentum on their side after that win, Likuena is hopeful for a successful second leg, building on their achievements to progress further in the tournament.
