The highly anticipated Miss Keep Lesotho Clean beauty pageant is back, promising an extravagant third edition aimed at championing environmental management and sustainable living in Lesotho.

Founded by the visionary 27-year-old Khunong Lefeela in 2021, the pageant seeks to redefine beauty by intertwining it with the noble cause of fostering a cleaner, greener nation.

Its mission? To combat environmental degradation, tackle littering, and discourage illegal dumping, all while nurturing a culture of environmental consciousness.

According to Lefeela, the pageant is a platform for beauty contestants to not just flaunt their outer beauty but also champion the beauty of a pristine environment.

“We want our candidates and winners actively involved in protecting the environment, advocating for behavioral changes, and safeguarding Lesotho from environmental harm,” he said.

In its evolution over the past years, the pageant has witnessed remarkable growth. This year, a record number of 17 models from various districts across the country are set to compete for the coveted crown, a notable surge from the initial seven contestants in its inaugural year.

Reflecting on the humble beginnings, Lefeela acknowledged the challenges faced during the inaugural event but highlighted its success in accomplishing the primary goal of crowning the first queen.

“Starting was never easy; we faced a shortage of models and ticket holders. However, we managed to crown our first queen and collaborated with the Maseru City Council in a cleanup drive,” Lefeela recalled.

The event has garnered increased sponsorship this year, a testament to its growing impact.

Notable sponsors for the event include Victoria Hotel, the main sponsor since last year, along with TriPharm, Mlex Beauty Spa, DP Clearing and Forwarding, Rosemo Couture, Clicks, and Digni Technologies.

The support from these sponsors has been crucial in elevating the pageant’s scale and reach.

Scheduled for December 22 at the Victoria Hotel, the evening promises a glamorous affair. The red carpet will kick off the extravaganza at 5 PM, followed by the main show at 7 PM.

Tickets are available for M150.00 for standard entry and M350.00 for VIP entry, which includes meals and beverages. Tickets can be purchased via Ecocash, from participating models, or directly from Victoria Hotel.

With a fusion of glitz, glamour, and a noble cause, the Miss Keep Lesotho Clean beauty pageant gears up for a night of beauty, elegance, and environmental advocacy.
