Call for the provision of consultancy services – Write up and strategic design Expert

1.  Background:

The ReNOKA is embarking on an Integrated Catchment Management (ICM) project aimed at promoting capacity development and sustainable practices within the Basic and Non-formal education methods which will play a pivotal role in supporting the sector towards sustainable environmental conservation. Therefore, we are looking for a consultant with expertise in writing design and education to assist in the development of ICM Education Material relevant to our disciplines. The primary objective of this assignment is to create a comprehensive ICM Manual that outlines best practices, guidelines, and procedures to minimize environmental impact across all aspects of our operations. The manual will serve as a reference guide in education sector providing clear instructions on how to implement environmentally responsible practices.

2. Scope of Work: The Write up and Strategic Design Expert working together with coauthors will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Develop clear and concise content for the ICM Manual, ensuring it is comprehensive yet accessible to a wide audience and it into sections. 
2. Incorporate practical guidance, case studies, and examples to illustrate concepts and facilitate understanding.
3. Ensure the manual aligns with relevant national and international environmental agreements/policies and frameworks.
4. Work closely with the design and layout team to ensure the manual is visually appealing and user-friendly.
5. Review and incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and management to refine the content.
6. Emphasize the importance of adhering to deadlines and quality standards.

• Provide a timeline for the completion of different stages of the write up and set milestones and checkpoints for review and feedback.

3. Qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

1. A Master Degree in Communication, Education, and Environmental Science, Development Studies or any other related field. 
2. Proven with at least 10 years’ experience in designing and implementing education programs, preferably in the field of environmental conservation and intensive knowledge of guiding policies.
3. Demonstrated experience in developing environmental manuals or similar technical documentation.
4. In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices applicable.
5. Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to convey complex environmental concepts in a clear and concise manner.
6. Proficiency in manual writing and strategy development.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

4. Terms of Engagement: This is a short term consultancy assignment to be conducted within 20 working days spread over two months- April–May 2024. The selected consultant will have to provide a detailed work plan with timelines once the contract have been signed.  The duty station is Maseru with possibility of minimal travel for undertaking the facilitation tasks.
