The much-anticipated women’s clash between Liqhomane Ladies and Maseru Warriors Ladies last weekend ended in disappointment as Warriors were forced to forfeit the match due to a shortage of players.
This unfortunate turn of events meant that Liqhomane Ladies were automatically awarded a 28-0 victory, highlighting the on-going challenges some teams face in maintaining full squads throughout the season.
While the women’s match ended before it could even begin, the men’s contest between Liqhomane and Maseru Warriors delivered some action.
Liqhomane showcased their strength and tactical superiority, securing an impressive17-5victory over their opponents. The game started with both teams showing resilience and determination, but Liqhomane quickly found their rhythm, capitalising on Maseru Warriors’ defensive gaps.
Liqhomane’s forwards dominated the set pieces, consistently winning scrums and line-outs to provide their backs with attacking opportunities. Their well-structured game play saw them cross the try line multiple times, leaving Warriors struggling to keep up.
Warriors, on the other hand, showed moments of promise, managing to get on the scoreboard with a single try, but their inability to convert chances into points ultimately cost them.
This victory further cements Liqhomane’s reputation as one of the most formidable teams in the Econet Rugby League. Their well-rounded squad, featuring powerful forwards and skillful backs, has proven time and again that they are strong contenders for the championship.
For Warriors, the loss signals the need for adjustments as they look ahead to their upcoming fixtures. With key matches still to be played, they must regroup, address their weaknesses, and come back stronger to remain competitive in the league.
This weekend’s upcoming games will see NUL Spears Ladies taking on Maseru Warriors Ladies, while Mabote Beavers Ladies will lock horns with Mabita Gorilla Ladies. Both matches are scheduled for Saturday.
In the afternoon, the corresponding matches in the males division will take place, with NUL Spears facing Maseru Warriors, while Mabote Beavers will battle Mabita Gorrillas.
