Vitality Health has bolstered the Lesotho Defense Force’s (LDF) emergency preparedness by providing First Aid training, first aid kits, and emergency medication valued at M20 000.

The initiative aims to enhance the LDF’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

Semethe Raleche, Executive Director of Vitality Health who spoke during a recent handover ceremony, acknowledged the LDF’s openness to strategic partnerships.

“Not only did you open your doors, but you also made it possible to save lives in need of urgent medical attention in remote areas,” Raleche said.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration with the LDF Airwing.

“Together, we have overcome the challenges posed by the rugged terrain of our country, ensuring that critical patients receive timely lifesaving medical intervention.”

Raleche also emphasized the training of six new first-aiders.

“We have certified six more soldiers who are now equipped to assist during medical emergencies. These dedicated individuals are not just soldiers; they are lifesavers, heroes ready to respond when lives are at risk,” he added.

He stressed that the initiative is about more than just capacity building; it is about creating a legacy of compassion and resilience in protecting citizens’ health and well-being.

The newly certified team completed a short course held at LDF’s Mejametalana from July 31 to August 2. On behalf of the recipients, Lebohang Makatise expressed gratitude for the support, emphasising the importance of First Aid.

“First aid is crucial for providing immediate treatment that sustains lives after an accident before patients can be transported to a hospital,” Makatise noted.

Brigadier General Matamane highlighted the need for the new equipment in the Fire Section, which responds to numerous fire incidents nationwide.

“Without proper First Aid, they may find themselves in vulnerable positions if a colleague requires immediate medical attention,” he said.

He also thanked Vitality Health for the basic training provided and expressed hope for more advanced courses in the future.

Raleche pledged continued support to the army for the sake of supporting patients.

“This is just the beginning. With the Lesotho Defense Force by our side, we stand united in our mission to make a difference, one life at a time. We will be there for patients in their moment of need.”

Vitality Health is also a strategic partner for the LDF Bootcamp initiative, ensuring that attendees receive prompt medical care throughout the program.
