The Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) has celebrated the role of local creatives and digital influencers in strengthening public awareness and engagement during the recent Filing Season Share and Win Campaign 2026.

Speaking during the awards ceremony held on Thursday, Acting Commissioner General of Revenue Services Lesotho, Mr. Rakokoana Makoa, commended creatives for their outstanding contribution in promoting voluntary tax compliance through innovative digital storytelling and social media engagement.

The campaign, which ran from 8 to 14 May 2026, challenged creatives to amplify tax filing awareness nationwide using relatable and engaging online content aimed at educating Basotho on the importance of filing income tax returns and complying with tax obligations.

Other participants included SibongileKhesa, NaleliNkane, Mofolo Liau, David Mosola, Nteboheleng Mohale, Ntelele R,Thloks and Likoche.

Addressing attendees, Makoa said the initiative had succeeded in educating citizens about the importance of filing tax returns on time and understanding the consequences of non-compliance.

“At RSL, we believe that tax compliance is more than just a legal obligation, it is an act of patriotism. When citizens comply with their tax obligations, they contribute directly to national development, public services, infrastructure and the growth of our economy,” he said.

He noted that communication trends are rapidly evolving, particularly among young people who increasingly consume information through digital platforms and social media.

“As communication methods evolve, RSL recognised the need to strategically partner with creatives and influencers who can effectively spread tax awareness messages to taxpayers and prospective taxpayers across the country,” he added.

Providing further insight into the competition, RSL Marketing Manager, ’MatebohoMakote, said the collaboration with content creators significantly expanded the reach of tax education messages, particularly among youth and digitally connected audiences.

She explained that the use of influencers and digital storytelling enabled RSL to communicate important information in a more relatable and accessible manner.

“Through the campaign, creatives increased the visibility of tax-related messages across diverse audiences while encouraging peer-to-peer awareness and participation,” Makote said.

She added that the partnership leveraged trusted voices within communities, making it easier for the public to understand the importance of filing tax returns and complying with tax obligations.

Makote further highlighted the growing importance of modern communication platforms in reaching wider audiences and enhancing public engagement.

Speaking on behalf of the participating creatives, competition winner MonahengMphahama expressed appreciation to RSL for creating opportunities that allow young creatives to showcase their talents while contributing to national awareness campaigns.

“This opportunity has shown that creative work can play a meaningful role in educating Basotho about important national issues such as tax filing,” he said.

Mphahama encouraged fellow creatives in Lesotho to remain committed to their craft and take advantage of platforms that promote innovation and talent development.
