The annual Face of Lesotho pageant will come alive with the 10th edition set to be like no other taking place tomorrow at the Avani Maseru Hotel hosted by the Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho (BPAL).
In last year’s edition, Motimposo-born, Naleli Sephapahthi was crowned the Face of Lesotho Queen.
The pageant National Director Lintle Setho, told Newsday Arts earlier this week that they are looking to deliver the best event ever.
“Our excitement for this event is beyond what we had previously and that is accompanied by our will to want to deliver the best coronation in this 10th edition of the pageant,†Setho said.
Setho said the reception from the general public has been promising but not at the level they were hoping for.
Face of Lesotho is the second biggest national beauty pageant after Miss Lesotho, registered under the BPAL. Its purpose is to educate young people in life skills, promote local talent and have aggressive presence in different activities in the country.
“All our finalists were tasked with doing some charitable work of their choice whether be it visiting an orphanage or feeding the needy or visiting a school and they took the exercise seriously which speaks volumes a lot about the caliber of finalists we have,†said Setho.
There are 15 finalists who will be contesting for the crown on Saturday where Sephaphathi will hand over the crown to the next queen in what promises to be a do of class, glitz and glamor.
Botswana born Muvhango actress Sharon Seno will be one of the judges along with Face of Lesotho 2019, Boitumelo Sehlotho, Miss Lesotho Executive Director, Mululela Monyake while the coronation will be graced by the presence of beautician Selloane Thakanyane.
The winner of Face of Lesotho is someone who will be expected to represent Lesotho at the Face of Beauty International scheduled for later this year.
The entertainment front will be headlined by performances from Omali Themba, Nthabiseng and Mmateng amongst others.
Before Sephaphathi, Face of Lesotho was Sehlotho who won the title in 2019 replacing Thabelo Ngatane who was reigning queen from 2018 and the youngest at 17 years old to wear the crown.
The event is sponsored by MCT Entertainment, Clicks Lesotho, Tripharm with Setho also personally investing in the event.
