Local brands collaborate to light up music scene

Soulful musical band Origin has embarked on a mission of collaborating with other creatives in the arts industry. The band has introduced their clothing collaboration with top clothing brand, Nobodies clothing.

With the collaboration, the band will have custom-made attire for their performances and when making appearances.

According to Karabo Phama, one sixth of the band, the plan is to make more collaborations with different other creatives in the industry such as sound engineers, producers and videographers.

He said the collaboration with Nobodies Clothing is all about them wanting to wear locally-produced attire for their appearances.

“We wanted to wear local brands by our own designers because we are all about local art with the vision to take it international and this will be good to market them and vice versa,” Phama said.

This is not the first time that the band collaborates with a local clothing brand, as it previously worked with Faki on a non-formal collaboration as they were testing the waters.

“We do not put a time frame on how long we work with one brand for now, but our plan in the long run is to work with as many brands as we can to do our bit in pushing their work,” said Phama.

He said at the moment Nobodies Clothing is only producing merchandise custom-made for them as a band while working on a way to mass produce for their fans as well.

“For now, the merchandise we get is mainly for the band members but the designer is aware that our plan is to also have the brand produce for our fans who have already shown interest in the brand,” he said.

For his part, the Founder and Designer of Nobodies Clothing Lebohang Kagwa, said that the collaboration is a win-win situation for both brands.

“The biggest thing is exposure as much as I think we are both big brands that have support and their own target markets. We are always looking to grow as Nobodies and this was an opportunity for that,” Kagwa said.
