Students at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) today embarked on a protest for delay of their stipends release by the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS).
The frustrated students are chanting and burning old tyres and wood near the university entrance.
This is the second time the students are rioting following last week’s protest.
Heavily armed police officers have also been spotted around the campus today.
During their protest, the students called for immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure that their stipends are paid out in full and on time.
The students have vowed to continue voicing their displeasure at the authorities until action is taken.
Many of the students rely on their stipends to pay for basic necessities like food, rent and textbooks.
The university administration and government have not yet released an official statement on the matter.
