Afro Deejay takes music to his fans

The prominent disc jockey (DJ), Afro Deejay, is set to rock fans outside Maseru from next month when he embarks on a national tour.

Scheduled to take place in some of the hottest joints around the country, the tour is meant to give Afro Deejay’s fans living outside the capital, an opportunity to experience his magic within their own backyards.

Afro Deejay plans to wow his fan base around the country by spending one day doing what he does best in each district.

“I have fans who I know cannot be able to access events I hosted in Maseru, this tour is for them,” Afro Deejay told Newsday.

“The plan is to provide a vibe people always witness on social media of my successful events,” he added.

Afro Deejay, whose real name is Motlatsi Makhetha, said it is his ultimate goal for his brand to grow nationwide, which will make it easier to cross international borders.

The starting point for the national tour will be Mapholaneng in Mokhotlong district on February 11.

“The tour will begin on the 11th February and continue throughout the year, possibly end around winter.”

Places that have so far confirmed dates are include The Clan in Thaba-Tseka on February 18, Jalopy in Mafeteng (Jalopy) on February 28 and The Vibe in Hlotse on April 8. Other places will be revealed in due course.

The DJ it is almost impossible to put an end date because of factors beyond his control. 

The tour will also feature other artists as a way to promote them apart from the main act. 

“I want other artists to get equal opportunity to also make themselves known.”

This will be Afro Deejay’s second tour, after the one he held last July, which began in his hometown Mafeteng and covered four districts only.
