A major new cultural and entertainment initiative, Allegro Africa in Concert, was recently launched at The Market, Maseru Mall.
The upcoming concert aims to spotlight Lesotho’s musical talent, promote national pride, and position the country as a rising force in both the regional and international entertainment scenes.
Scheduled for 28 June 2025 at the ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre, the event is being organized by Events and Thingz in collaboration with various local entertainment stakeholders.
Speaking at a media briefing, Nthethe Sekoli, popularly known as DJ Allegro and the Chief Marketing Coordinator at Volume Events, described the concert as “an exciting initiative with the potential to make a meaningful impact on the entertainment industry.”
“We plan to produce a unique show unlike anything seen in Lesotho. This is about showing that we are greater than people assume,” the talented and hard-working Sekoli added.
Also addressing the media was Rethabile Hlalele, Founder and CEO of Events and Thingz, who emphasised the broader vision behind the event.
“This is more than just a concert. It is a celebration of music, creativity, and the spirit of Basotho. It is a platform to honour our talent and show that Lesotho is ready to take its place in the regional and international entertainment scene,” she said.
Hlalele noted the steady growth of Lesotho’s music industry and the increasing recognition of Basotho artists abroad, especially in neighbouring South Africa.
“That kind of progress speaks volumes about the depth of talent we have in this country. Even more encouraging is the boldness and creativity we are seeing from local promoters and event coordinators. Allegro Africa in Concert is both a cultural statement and a stage to celebrate the artistry, passion, and resilience of Basotho.”
The event promises an impressive lineup of performers, including Morena Sway, Victor Rapitse, DJ Khebza, and a full string quartet, delivering a powerful fusion of contemporary and traditional sounds.
The organisers say the concert will feature live performances, behind-the-scenes storytelling, and a unique musical journey for attendees.
This is not DJ Allegro’s first foray into live musical events. In 2024, he debuted an intimate experience titled Muru at The Caff, which has been warmly received by fans and music lovers.
In addition to organising events, DJ Allegro also hosts The Allegro Africa Podcast, a weekly online show that has surpassed 60 episodes and continues to gain popularity.
Despite his demanding schedule, he expressed excitement about finally bringing this long-anticipated event to life.
