Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) is continuing in its relentless mission to enhance connectivity by upgrading key sites with 5G technology.
With the recent expansion of 5G coverage in Botha-Bothe, Leribe, Berea, Maseru, and Mafeteng, residents and businesses in these areas, including Maputsoe, can now access lightning-fast internet speeds, ultra-low latency, and improved connectivity.
The move strengthens ETL’s position as Lesotho’s leading data network and marks an important milestone in the country’s digital transformation. The development is also expected to revolutionise how people experience the digital world, from streaming and gaming to remote working.
ETL’s Chief Technology and Information Officer, Malefetsane Tlelima, emphasized that the introduction of 5G is not just a technological upgrade but a transformation of daily life.
“Whether it’s streaming, gaming, remote working, or simply browsing, the difference will be profound,” said Tlelima.
He also stressed the broader economic impact, noting that the 5G network will support innovations such as smart cities and advanced healthcare solutions, which will drive growth and development.
In addition to expanding 5G coverage, ETL is investing in public education to help people fully understand the benefits of this new technology.
“We believe in empowering our customers with knowledge so they can leverage the capabilities of 5G,” added Tlelima.
As ETL continues its network upgrades, the company is paving the way for a future where high-speed, seamless connectivity becomes the norm, ensuring that every Mosotho can participate fully in the digital economy.
The expansion of 5G promises to redefine Lesotho’s digital landscape, unlocking new opportunities for individuals and businesses to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
