The Lepereng Olympafrica Center (LOC) ladies’ volleyball team has become the first local club to qualify for the quarterfinals of the ongoing CAVB Zone 6 Volleyball Club Championship.

The club pulled off the rare feat by thrashing Botswana Defence Force (BDF) 3-1 on Wednesday this week.

That win however, came on the back of a humbling 3-0 loss to the defending champions Academica from Mozambique, after their encouraging 2-0 win over Solwezi Hackers from Zambia in their opening match of their campaign in Pool C.

Lepereng is due to face UPM of Mozambique in the quarterfinals. Other quarter-final matches pit Mofolofolo of Botswana against Green Buffaloes of Zambia, Kutlwano of Botswana versus Correctional Sunrise of Eswatini, and Academia De Maputo of Mozambique against VUT of the Republic of South Africa.

In the ladies’ replacement matches, Redskins will face Blue Eagles, CUT Eagles will face Scorpion, Support Unit will face BDF VI, UZ Wolves will face MAG Stimela, WIT Jaguar will face Prison Leopards and Solwezi Ackers will face LMPS.

For the gentlemen’s quarter-finals, Green Buffaloes of Zambia will be defending their title against Wolves Lusaka of Zambia; UZ Wolves against Falcons of Zambia, Correctional Sunrise of Eswatini against Support Unit of Zimbabwe, and NABA of Zimbabwe against Escorpion of Angola.

In the gentlemen’s replacement matches, Blue Eagles will face NDF; BDF VI will lock horns against Prison Leopards; Black Rhionos will be up against Mag Stimela; Alianca against LDF VI, Redskins against Academia De Maputo while Spiking Stars will face LMPS from Lesotho.
