Masianokeng High School has been named the champions of the recent Alliance High School Tournament, held at the LCS Ground in Maseru.
The event, organized in partnership with the Lesotho Institutions Sport Association (LISA), saw Masianokeng take home M7,500 for their outstanding performance.
Bereng High School finished as the runners-up, earning M5,000, while Tsikoane High School and Mohatlane High School secured third and fourth places, respectively, with prizes of M3,000 and M1,000.
The annual tournament finals took place over the past weekend at the LCS Grounds.
In a post-match interview, Masianokeng High School head coach, Tlokotsi Ndlovu, acknowledged the challenge of the tournament. Ndlovu praised Bereng High School for their strong performance but expressed gratitude for his team’s resilience and victory.
He highlighted the competitiveness of the tournament.
“The pressure could not allow us to rest in any game. We had to stay focused at all times. Even though I am younger than their coach, Caswell Moru who is my mentor, I wanted to show that my coaching skills are improving,” Ndlovu said.
Ndlovu noted a significant improvement in the level of competition from the participating teams. He encouraged teams that were eliminated early to remain optimistic, noting that future tournaments could offer new opportunities.
“The teams that were knocked out early should not feel like it was the end of the road, they should know that next year it can be them winning this tournament. We are ready to communicate with the big teams if they have interest in their players,”
“My players did well despite the changes I did during the competition,” he said.
Ndlovu also commended Alliance Insurance for their support, which he believes motivates players to pursue football as a career rather than just a hobby.
