Metropolitan Lesotho recently launched a new life insurance product, Boiketlo Life Cover, aimed at providing financial security, dignity, and peace of mind for Basotho and their families.

The new offering marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to empowering communities and protecting the financial futures of its customers.

Metropolitan Lesotho’s Managing Director, Rethabile Motsoahae, who spoke at the launch, noted that the new product demonstrates the organisation’s dedication to serving as a reliable partner in the financial journeys of its customers.

“For 59 years, we have walked alongside Basotho, and today we reaffirm our role not just as a financial services provider, but as a long-term partner in building and protecting their financial dreams,” said Motsoahae.

Tieli Ntiea, Metropolitan’s Learning and Development Facilitator described the product as a reflection of the company’s purpose: ‘Rea aha, le ho sireletsa litoro tsa Basotho’ to build and protect the financial dreams of Basotho.

Boiketlo, which loosely translates to peace of mind, is designed to respond to the everyday realities faced by households across Lesotho. The product offers accessible, relevant, and dependable life cover to support families during critical and often difficult moments.

The new offering focuses on simplicity, affordability, and flexibility, ensuring that more Basotho can access meaningful financial protection. It caters to individuals and families seeking not only to meet present needs but also to secure the future of their loved ones.

It comes with a range of options tailored to different customer needs. These include Term Assurance with Bond, which ensures that outstanding home loans are settled in the event of death, protecting families from losing their homes.

Another option, Term Assurance without Bond, provides a lump sum payout to beneficiaries for expenses such as education and daily living costs. The third option, Whole Life Assurance, guarantees a payout whenever death occurs, offering long-term security and supporting legacy planning.

Boiketlo Life Cover is accessible to a wide segment of the population, with entry available from the age of 19, enabling young adults to begin securing their financial futures early.

Metropolitan’s Head of Retail, Tšeliso Rammoko highlighted that the product was developed with a deep understanding of customers’ needs, challenges, and aspirations.

“This product is about more than cover; it is about enabling every Mosotho to protect what matters most and to create a secure future for their families,” he said.

The introduction of Boiketlo Life Cover further strengthens Metropolitan Lesotho’s role in advancing financial inclusion by making life insurance more accessible to a broader segment of society.
