…live album recording with some big name acts

Gospel music sensation Rorisang Motsamai is set to bring gospel music alive when he records his 16th album live at the Victory Hall in Maseru tomorrow (Saturday April 29, 2022) at an event dubbed Worship Experience featuring some of the big names.
With 15 albums to his name already, this will be the first time that the artist records an album live, something which he told this publication was inspiration he drew from some of the top musicians especially from South Africa such as legendary gospel icon Rebecca Malope.
“I have been thinking of doing this kind of a recording for a while now. The first time I saw it was back in the 90s with Sis Rebecca Malope and because I loved it, I knew that one day I would also do it, and now I feel the time is right,†Motsamai said.
The South African Gospel queen, Malope was also the reason Motsamai began his music career in a church choir in 1997 having drawn inspiration from her as well as the late pop star Brenda Fassie.
He went solo in 2006 and released his debut self-titled album the same year which was in 2008 followed by another titled Ke na Le Jesu. He later released Molimo O Teng, Setsoalle le Jesu, as well as My Hero My King amongst his early albums. His 15th album was released in January this year tilted Jesus Leads Today.
Motsamai said the live recording will be one of its kind promising nothing but a spiritual awakening and revival to those who are to attend the event.
“This is going to be an event of its own magnitude filled with a spiritual awakening akin to a whole spiritual revival, so people coming must expect lots of fun and a full show of musical experience,†he said.
The recording will see gospel lovers enthralled in 15 of the genre’s newest songs which include features from some of the heavyweight names such as Tšepo Kherenchane and Joyous Celebration member Andiswa Mbatsa.
The event will be headlined by amongst others the ‘Jesu Ufike Kuseni’ hit-maker, Sipho Ngwenya, Mookho Moqhali, Thabiso Moloi, MJ Selepe, Rithah Motseare and Thembisile Kaptein.
