Roma-born musical sensation and rapper, Bokang ‘Moleli popularly known as Malome Vector continues to live his artistic dream in South Africa dream and more with his recent album Karabo whaiu has been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the South Africa Music Awards (SAMAs) for this year.
Nominations lists for the 28th edition of the SAMAs were announced on Tuesday June 7 where Karabo which was released in early January this year, scored two nominations for Rest of Africa Award and Best Produced Album.
Karabo will be up against stiff competition in the Rest of Africa category from the likes of Zimbabwean Edgar Muzah for Son of A Tribe, Nigerian singers, Ckay for Boyfriend, Tems for the album If Orange was A Place and Tay Iwar for Love & Isolation.
In the category of Best Produced album of the year, Karabo is up against, Msaki’s Platinum Heart Open album, Thetha Mama by The One who Sings, Destination Unknown by Vaughn Prangley and A world of Suicide by Kahn Morbee.
Following a successful arrival at Ambitious Entertainment, which boasts an impressive list of notable acts including, Londie London, Miss Pru DJ, Blaq Diamond and Cici amongst others, Malome Vector has become the first Mosotho to have his album score two nominations at the SAMAs.
This is not the first SAMA nomination for Malome Vector having been part of the winning pack for best music video of the year for the song Price to Pay where he was featured by Miss Pru DJ alongside Blaq Diamond during the 27th edition.
The 28-year-old singer, songwriter and record producer expressed his excitement to this publication this week saying that he would be delighted to win both awards.
“I am happy with the two nominations; it simply tells that we have an incredible piece of work so I am grateful of the recognition.
“It would be very big and exciting to win both awards but even one to me would be incredible. Being nominated at such a big stage is big for any artist,†Vector said.
The virtuoso producer will be hoping to surpass the feat of last year where he became the first Mosotho to be nominated for Listeners’ Choice Award at the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards where he lost out to Ghananian superstar Sarkodie.
The SAMAs have over the years been the highlight of every musician’s craft as the biggest stage upon which musical excellence is gauged. The 2022 edition of the awards’ ceremony will be hosted at a lavish event on July 31, 2022.
After its release, Karabo stood at the number one spot as the best album across all genres for a record two weeks.
