Voting for nominees of the 2023 edition of the Finite Wo-Men Appreciation Awards (FWAA23) is underway as the anticipated annual showpiece draws closer.

Scheduled for August 19 at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre, this year’s event promises to be a hit with lots of entertainment from various local artistes.

There will also be glamorous cocktails, networking sessions, and photo sessions for those who will be dressed to kill.

Organised by the BAM Group Foundation, the annual awards recognise women and men who are making positive economic strides in different professions in their communities.

Nominated candidates are voted for by the people to win in their respective professions.

Agriculture, Arts, Culture & Entertainment, Fashion and Beauty, Health Services, Hospitality, Leadership & Development, Manufacturing, Media, Safety and Security, Teaching, Training, and Advocacy are among the categories in this year’s edition.

Following the initial nomination phase, which ran from April to the end of May this year, voting for the nominees is currently underway.

“This year, we are on the 11th Annual Finite Magazine Awards. Our theme is Technology and Innovation,” said Moketenyane Mokoena, the FINITE events coordinator.

“We are now in the voting process. Basotho are already voting and deciding on their top three. And among the top three of each category, we will be having a winner from each.

“We currently have 100 nominations in a total of 10 per category. The voting process commenced on June 7 and will run until July 31.”

From the beginning of August this year, the top three nominees will be announced building up to the announcement of the ultimate winners on August 19.

“Lines will be open for further voting until the top three finalists per category have been selected. The top three finalists will be announced in the first week of August. Voting lines open at a cost of M2, and bulk voting is also allowed,” Mokoena said.

Despite prominently looking to empower females, the awards also appreciate men, though to a lesser extent.

“As you may know, behind every successful man there is a woman. Yes, we appreciate their efforts as much as they appreciate ours. We will continue to include men in our future awards, as without them life is boring.”

Mokoena says the event has been growing from strength to strength since its inception.

“The event continues to grow by leaps and bounds with each year’s event notches higher and higher. This year it will be glamorous with networking sessions, cocktails, red carpet, and photo sessions as well. So people should dress to kill. There will be prizes to be won by the audience, top finalists and of course winners as well.  Entertainment will also be there by various artists in the country.

“We have sponsors and media partners who supported the event, though we are still expecting more sponsors and media houses to support us. And we will really appreciate their support.  Financially or in kind just to make the event a success,” Mokuena said.
