This year’s Maletsunyane Braai Festival is heating up like never before.

Get ready for a weekend packed with South African sensations Sun-El musician and Sbahle, lighting up Semonkong from Friday through Sunday next week.

The lineup is as hot as the braais with top talent from Lesotho and South Africa, featuring Ntate Stunna, Leomile, Thizozo, Thope tse khang, Wave Rhyder, Omali Themba, Bootz, Pablo DJ, DJ Frequency, Romeo Makota, and the Master of Ceremony (MC), Mavele, among many others.

Set against the jaw-dropping backdrop of ‘Maletsunyane Falls, just a scenic 115 kilometres from Maseru, this annual blast happens on the last November weekend.

Three days of epicness include Friday hikes to the waterfall, plus horse and quad rides.

Saturday amps it up with more waterfall hikes, a braai competition, and aerobic adventures.

Sunday is a grand finale with entertainment galore, so brace for excitement.

The sizzling braai master competition is where it’s at – think Maluti Potjie showdowns, Vodacom Mpesa boerie rolls, Leseli Hub perfect steaks, and Maletsunyane braai platters, all gunning for sponsor-driven prizes.

In Parliament this week, the Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts, and Culture, Motlatsi Maqelepo, hailed the fest as a tourism powerhouse.

Maqelepo proudly declared last year’s bash raked in a cool M10 million for the country’s coffers, spanning fuel, levy, toll-gate fees, food, and drinks.

And it is not just about the numbers. Basotho flourish, selling crafts, renting out their horses, and bagging employment opportunities.

“Over thirty food and craft vendors, fifty horse rentals, about 200 hired staff, and our national artists all reap the rewards,” the Minister proudly proclaimed.

So, buckle up for a thrilling ride. Festival tickets are M540.00, camping tickets M510.00, and it’s all Mpesa-powered.

Get ready to blaze it up at Maletsunyane – it’s going to be a weekend for the books.
