FNB Lesotho and LNIG Hollard have launched a funeral insurance product offering cover of up to M100,000, aimed at helping Basotho families manage funeral costs and strengthen their financial preparedness.
The FNB Funeral Plan, unveiled in Maseru this week, has premiums starting from M1.63 per day and allows customers to cover up to 21 family members under a single policy. It is designed to give families financial support during bereavement, when funeral costs can place heavy pressure on household budgets.
Speaking at the launch, FNB Lesotho Insurance Manager Gloria Senatsi said the plan reflected the bank’s commitment to developing products that respond to customers’ changing needs.
“The FNB Funeral Plan is an extension of our belief that Help Changes Everything. It includes inclusive features and benefits that are better suited to the changing needs of the market,” Senatsi said.
She added that the bank remained committed to offering solutions that make a meaningful difference to customers and their families.
The plan includes family support and cash-back benefits, although the launch information did not provide details on the eligibility requirements or terms governing them.
Representing insurance partner LNIG Hollard, Head of Brand and Marketing Liepollo Tsekoa said the product was developed jointly by the two institutions, with a focus on understanding customers’ needs.
“The FNB Funeral Plan is the result of collaboration and a shared dedication to understanding our clients’ needs. As those needs evolve, so too must our products,” Tsekoa said.
She said the plan was intended to make financial protection and support more accessible to families.
FNB Lesotho Retail Banking Executive Nthabeleng Khoali described the product as part of the bank’s broader strategy of offering practical financial solutions to help customers navigate major life events.
“At FNB, we continually ask ourselves one forward question: How can we help? The FNB Funeral Plan is one of the answers to that question,” Khoali said.
She said the plan showed the bank’s commitment to supporting customers and their families with solutions that offer peace of mind and value when it matters most.
The launch comes as funeral cover remains an important consideration for households planning for the costs of losing a loved one. By allowing several family members to be insured under one policy, the product offers customers a way to consolidate their family’s funeral cover.
However, prospective policyholders will need to weigh the premiums, benefits, eligibility criteria and policy conditions to determine whether the cover suits their household’s needs.
The FNB Funeral Plan is available at FNB Lesotho branches nationwide. Customers who want more information or wish to sign up can visit their nearest branch or call the bank’s toll-free number, 8004 1000.
The two institutions say the product forms part of their wider commitment to delivering accessible, relevant and customer-focused financial services in Lesotho.
