The Federation of Rugby Lesotho (FRL) received a significant boost from Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) with the donation of essential rugby equipment valued at over M20,000.

The donation, including corner flags, marker wedges, and post protectors, will greatly enhance the safety and efficiency of rugby matches in the country. This gesture underscores ETL’s ongoing commitment to nurturing and advancing the sport within Lesotho.

Litšitso Motšeremeli, the Secretary General of FRL, expressed gratitude towards ETL for their steadfast support over the years, emphasizing the importance of the donated equipment in facilitating the smooth conduct of rugby games.

ETL’s contributions to Lesotho’s rugby community extend beyond equipment donations. Since 2013, they have provided substantial sponsorship totaling over M1.5 million, including a contribution of M170,000 towards the Econet Rugby League this season.

‘Mapusetso Ntšekhe, the General Manager of Marketing Communications and Customer Experience at ETL, highlighted the company’s enthusiasm for supporting FRL and fostering the growth of rugby in Lesotho.

Recognising rugby as a unifying force that promotes teamwork and physical fitness, ETL aims to inspire more young people to engage in the sport while ensuring player safety through the provision of proper equipment.

The handover ceremony, attended by representatives from ETL, FRL, and the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC), served as a testament to the strong partnership between ETL and FRL and showcased the positive impact of ETL’s support on the development of rugby in Lesotho.
