Lesotho’s telecommunications giant, Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL), is set to ignite the town of Mohale’s Hoek tomorrow with the much-anticipated Royal Cup.

This unique event, a fusion of equestrian excellence and haute couture, is part of a series of festivities dedicated to honouring and commemorating the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Letsie III.

Beyond the thrilling horse races, the Royal Cup promises a bustling marketplace, replete with a diverse range of hospitality offerings, live musical performances, captivating fashion showcases, and vibrant stalls showcasing an array of products.

‘Mapusetso Ntšekhe, ETL’s GM for Marketing Communications and Customer Experience, shared her enthusiasm for the regal affair, highlighting ETL’s dedication to upholding and promoting Lesotho’s rich cultural heritage.

“As Econet Telecom Lesotho, we strongly believe in uniting with stakeholders to celebrate the cherished values and cultural traditions of Basotho, as embodied by His Majesty King Letsie III. This collective effort is our contribution to the country’s development agenda and a celebration of the diverse heritage of the Kingdom of Lesotho,” expressed NtÅ¡ekhe.

She underscored how the Royal Cup mirrors ETL’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch services across Lesotho while commemorating the remarkable journey of Basotho.

“Econet Telecom Lesotho has invested M500,000 into this event and we urge Basotho to come in numbers to celebrate our pride as a nation. Let us celebrate His Majesty’s birthday in style with all the pride we have,” Ntšekhe exclaimed.

Motlatsi Russell of Bienvenue, highlighting the grandeur of the Royal Cup for horse racing aficionados and fashionistas, expressed his gratitude for partnering with ETL to bring forth this extraordinary event.

“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to partner with Econet Telecom Lesotho to pull an event of this magnitude for the horse racing sector and the fashion industry as we celebrate His Majesty,” said Russell.

“Being able to bring on board Lesotho-born Thabo Makhetha, an esteemed Creative Director and fashion designer, and furthermore witnessing the amazing work he did for the Royal Cup with Lesotho’s designers has been an incredible experience that will indeed turn heads around in Mohale’s Hoek as revelers get a taste of the talent Lesotho is blessed with,” he added.
