JOB SUMMARY |
Under general supervision of the Head of Department/Programme, the Lecturer I responsible for teaching and monitoring of students as well as monitoring them on industrial attachment. Conducts curriculum review, internal examination moderation, and also assists in the overall development of the programme. |
RESPONSIBILITIES |
The key duties of the post are as follows :- Teach courses under the Diploma in Water and Environmental Engineering, the Bachelor of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, as well as other departments and programmes as necessary. Supervise students’ projects and research. Prepare lessons and/or training materials, delivers lectures and/or conducts practical for 20 to 24 hours per week Assist the Head of Programme in the development of the Programme. Conduct tests and examinations for assessments and keep updated records. Monitor students on industrial attachment to obtain feedback on their progress. Participate in curriculum review to ensure industry relevance and academic quality. Participate in community engagement and consultancy activities. Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or Representative as delegated. Conduct research and publish in reputable journals. Contribute to the internal moderation of examination papers. |
JOB SPECIFICATION |
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in water resources engineering/management, civil engineering majoring with water or a closely related engineering field.PhD in a relevant field is highly desirable. EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS At least 2 years of professional working experience in Water or Environmental Engineering or any related fields. Two years field experience in teaching or research work in Water Resources Engineering will be an added advantage. Additionally, the incumbent should Have done courses in both surface and groundwater hydrology, and hydraulics. Have experience in the use of hydraulics software that includes HEC-RAS or equivalent and EPANET or equivalent, GIS (Geospatial), HEC-HMS, WMS, SWAT (Hydrological modelling) and Civil3D (draughting)Be able to teachGroundwater Hydrology Hydrology and Hydraulics Irrigation Engineering and Reticulation Design and Water Management KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Excellent communication and presentation skills.Ability to inspire and mentor students and colleagues.Commitment to promoting sustainable water and environmental practices.Strong organizational and time management skills.Willingness to participate in outreach programs and represent the institution in professional forums. |
