Members FC has clinched the Nedbank 8 football tournament, after triumphing over Kick4Life Juventude FC with an emphatic 4-2 scoreline in the finals that took place at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena last weekend.
The Mazanod-based team, which plies its trade in the southern stream of the A Division League, earned a trophy, M35,000 cash prize, and gold medals.
Kick4Life Juventude FC, the runners-up, claimed M30,000 and silver medals, while Majantja FC secured third place, earning M25,000 and bronze medals.
Maorala FC, the fourth-place finishers, took home M23,000. Each of the four quarterfinalists received a consolation of M20,000.
In individual accolades, Paseka Maile of Kick4Life Juventude was crowned the player of the tournament and awarded M3 000, a medal, and a trophy.
Tšoarelo Hlalele of Members FC emerged as the top goal scorer with five goals, earning M3,000, a medal, and a trophy, while Thabo Kuleile of Majantja claimed the title of the goalkeeper of the tournament, also securing M3,000, a medal, and a trophy.
Majantja FC secured third place after defeating Maroala FC 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw.
During the quarterfinals, Maroala FC triumphed over Qoaling FC 3-2, KickLife Juventude FC edged past Swallows FC with a score of 2-1, Members FC secured a 1-0 victory against Mzamane FC, and Majantja FC dominated Lilemela FC with a 3-0 win.
The 2023/24 Nedbank 8 saw Mzamane FC, champions of the northern stream, exit the competition in the quarterfinals, while Majantja FC, the champions of the southern stream, were eliminated in the semi-finals.
