Top rapper and record-maker Ntate Stunna says he is ready to bombard music lovers with loads of hits as he drops his new album later this year.

In an exclusive interview with Newsday Arts this week, the artist whose real name is Thaabe Letsie said the new offering titled Mosotho Gauteng which is guaranteed fireworks, is almost done and will soon be dropping.

Ntate Stunna said, however, that the album will be preceded by singles including his latest which will be dropping in about a fortnight on June 04, 2022 as well as the second edition of his Sesotho Fashioneng EP.

“I have been working on the Sesotho Fashioneng 2 EP as well as the Mosotho Gauteng album. The plan is to drop a single around early next month on the 4th June and try having the EP drop soon thereafter,” said Ntate Stunna, adding that the album would be coming out around Spring.

In 2021 the rapper released a number of hit singles including ‘Ntoa’, ‘Lotto’ and ‘Nka E Koala’, which are set to be part of the Sesotho Fashioneng II project.

In October 2019, the 25-year-old shared a foretelling of his music career meticulously wielding the weather as his metaphor. The video forecast was titled ‘Tsa Bolepi’ weather report, which served as promo for his debut EP, Sesotho Fashioneng, which was eventually released on January 08, 2020.

He said following the release he had made a number of headlines although his rise had been hampered by the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic which deterred his plans to ride the wave of the EP.

He said he wanted to ease the pressure before the main drop as he feels that a project as important as an album requires maximum preparation and setting of the mood right while also reading up for more work in its aftermath.

“I did not want to offer anything as a big project (album) under pressure or not in a good space to be able to push it and give it justice hence I have been dropping singles. I believe that you need to tour after you drop a hip hop album. So with Covid-19 I was restricted from doing all that, hence I felt that dropping an album under those circumstances would be like a failed project,” Stunna explained.

The exact release date for the Sesotho Fashioneng II EP is yet to be confirmed due to what he said are logistical issues but said “I wish to drop it next month”.

Since the start of his career at the release of his first single ‘Mookho’, Stunna has not released a studio album hence ‘Mosotho Gauteng’ will be his first offering following the two EPs.
